Core Team

Rob Alexander

An experienced business development professional who has been working in the renewable energy sector since 2010.

James Sedge

Developed and manages our Quality Control standards, processes and procedures, working closely with Zestec’s partners to achieve consistent high quality installation standards.

James Mackinnon

An analyst and technical project developer with experience spanning solar, PPA funding and battery storage technologies.

He has direct experience of sourcing and securing investor funded and capital purchase solar PV systems for SME and Corporate Clients, both in the public and private sector. Prior to Zestec, Rob’s experience of sales, technical and operational delivery of solar PV installations in the commercial and residential sector saw him develop large scale residential solar PV portfolios with a number of local authorities across the UK.

Experienced in solar PV installation and management since 2010, commissioning c. 100MWp of solar PV and managing some of the largest ground mount solar PV systems in the UK, winning national awards for quality and innovation.

Lead the development and installation of a wide range of commercial solar PV projects across the UK, including several of the largest and most technically innovative projects to date.

Holds qualifications in Construction Management, G59 / G83 Solar Installation, CDM and Construction Health and Safety.

James has broad experience across the solar industry, is Zestec’s resident expert on PV Sol and is responsible for proactively supporting Partners in the technical specification and design of high quality commercial solar PV systems. 

When it comes to developing highly complex Excel models, and challenging the boundaries of Excel, James leads from the front in all aspects.

Sara Kershaw

Preparation and registration of solar rooftop leases and communication with mortgage lenders, landlords and clients.

Gabrielle Phillips

Responsible for accounts and general administration including day to day cash and accounting reconciliations for Zestec and manages the billing and credit control for the PPA income for our solar PV portfolios.

Zoë Fitt

Provides administrative support to the Project Delivery team and processes funding applications from partners, enabling fully funded commercial solar PV systems to be installed.

Management of the accreditation and registration of solar PV systems. Asset Management for our solar PV systems ensuring the assets perform in line with expectations. Extensive experience in a compliance role within the solar industry, managing issues relating to H&S, ISO Quality Management Systems, RECC and MCS.

Background of 20 years’ experience as an administrator with a large Independent Financial Adviser. Developed expertise in book keeping, human resources, pensions and other employee benefits

Zoë also assists with the coordination of Zestec’s marketing and sales initiatives, bringing previous business development experience from a large city-based law firm in the energy sector.


Simon Jarman


Simon is a qualified accountant, having started his career with Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte before moving into industry. He spent sixteen years at Everest Home Improvements, both as Finance Director and Chief Executive.

Simon Ramery


Simon is the co-founder of Capitama, a private capital platform and the founder of Innovation Capital Advisors (‘ICA’), an advisory firm established in 2013 to focus on raising equity and debt capital as well as providing strategic advice to companies.

Richard Fisher


Richard has an extensive background developing new propositions, bringing them to market and managing their growth.

He has over 10 years’ experience in private equity backed and leveraged environments, having performed two private equity backed transactions with Everest in 2003 and 2007.

In 2012, he completed an MBI of Food Industry Technical, a growing energy management company with a specific focus on energy saving in commercial kitchens. After successfully exiting that business in 2016 he has been working with private equity company Cairngorm Capital LLP as an Operating Partner.

ICA focuses predominantly on raising growth capital for companies as well as helping secure funding partners for asset based businesses.

Simon is also a member of the Lay Council at Keele University, a member of the advisory board at Keele Management School, a Non-Executive Director at The Motorist’s Organisation and a Non-Executive Director at Lusso Homes.

His operational experience spans managed services, software, professional services, telecoms along with financial services, in the UK and internationally. With first-hand experience of two successful exits as CEO and Operating Board Director, Richard has also advised on other transactions and projects for private companies, VC backed businesses, private equity in addition to listed organisations.

Peter Handscomb


Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG over 25 years ago, before moving into industry to work in senior finance positions in both quoted and un-quoted businesses, ranging from start-up to mature. For the last 16 years, up to July 2017, Peter was Finance Director at Reach Holdings, a software enabled, retail sales company.

Peter joined Reach following a private equity backed US trade acquisition in 2001. In November 2004 Peter was part of the MBI team backed by UK private equity to re-purchase the business from US trade. The team went on to re-leverage the business with HSBC in 2011 funding the buy-out of their private equity partner and in 2017 successfully exited, selling Reach to US trade.
