Grob Group, a distinguished leader in passive fire protection, ventilation services, and industrial solutions, has taken a significant step towards sustainable business practices with the installation of a 234 kWp rooftop solar PV system at their Eastbourne site. The system will be generating 245,000 kWh of clean energy a year, offsetting 55 tonnes of carbon. The project, which we designed and funded, is a pivotal moment in Grob Group’s commitment to environmental stewardship and energy efficiency.
Grob Group, formerly known as Hotchkiss Group, boasts a legacy of over 130 years, consistently delivering excellence and innovation in the construction industry. Recognising the importance of reducing their environmental impact, Grob Group has proactively sought to decrease their dependence on conventional grid power by harnessing renewable energy sources.
The project was meticulously planned, with essential structural improvements organised and conducted prior to the installation to ensure a secure foundation for the solar panels. This aspect of the project was seamlessly incorporated into our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model. In a further move towards sustainability, Grob Group has already implemented an electric vehicle (EV) charging network at their Eastbourne site, also funded through our PPA, and amended their Company Car Policy to Electric Vehicles only. This initiative reflects their holistic approach to reducing carbon emissions and fostering a greener future.
The installation presented unique challenges, including the need for specialised scaffolding due to the multi-height roof structure. Together with Grob Group’s independent roofing contractor, Inyo, we ensured the project was executed efficiently and smoothly, meeting all project milestones and expectations.
